When you decide to share your life with a dog, you usually have an idealised picture in your head of what your life together will be like.

With conscious training and a lot of hard work, a harmonious life together is achievable, but experience shows that there are many pitfalls along the way. It is much easier to raise a dog well from the start than to correct the initial mistakes later.

Finding common ground with a shelter dog can be a challenge: unfortunately, they often come with trauma and baggage that they need help to process.
